Set it up in 3 steps
On chatgpt.com in a computer browser. Have your IRIS licence key handy: in the IRIS app, Settings, IRIS Pro, Copy key.
- Add IRIS to ChatGPTOpen Plugins in the left sidebar, press +, then Add custom MCP server. Name it
IRIS, paste this address, choose OAuth, tick ChatGPT's confirmation, and create it:https://iris.eveniris.com/mcp
- Sign in to IRISAn IRIS page opens. Paste your licence key and press Allow.
- Ask with @irisIn a new chat, type @iris what was my last session about?
ChatGPT asks for a client ID or secret
Leave them empty. IRIS sets itself up.
I can't find my licence key
It is in the IRIS app under Settings, IRIS Pro, and in the welcome email you got when you subscribed.
What you can ask
ChatGPT reads your IRIS cloud backup, so keep Settings, Cloud backup on in the IRIS app.
What it can send to IRIS
Sending needs a ChatGPT plan that OpenAI allows to send to custom servers (see Which ChatGPT plans). Each one lands where IRIS already keeps that kind of thing. ChatGPT can add things. It cannot change or delete what is already in IRIS.
A script for your glasses
“Turn this into a five-minute talk and send it to my glasses.” It opens in Present, Teleprompter on your phone, and on eveniris.com/web, Live.
This chat, or a summary of it
“Save this to IRIS.” It becomes a document in Your files, so live cues and Ask can draw on it.
A to-do or a memory
“Remind me to send Dana the deck.” It lands in IRIS on your phone: the to-do in To-dos, the memory in your memories.
Bring your ChatGPT chats into IRIS
The IRIS browser extension copies your ChatGPT chats, Projects and saved memories into IRIS, so live cues and Ask can use them. Part of IRIS Pro.
- Add the IRIS extensionIn Chrome on your computer, add the IRIS extension and sign in.
- Press SyncOpen Sync in the extension panel.
- Choose Sync ChatGPTStay signed in to chatgpt.com in that browser. Untick anything you would rather keep out.
On eveniris.com/web, a synced Project can become an IRIS mode with Use as a mode.
Which ChatGPT plans
OpenAI decides which ChatGPT accounts can add a custom server like IRIS. This is what OpenAI's help article says today.
| ChatGPT plan | What OpenAI allows |
|---|---|
| Business, Enterprise, Edu | Full support: asking and sending. On Business, only workspace admins and owners can add a custom server. On Enterprise and Edu, admins choose who can. |
| Pro | OpenAI says Pro accounts can connect custom servers “with read/fetch permissions”. Asking works. Sending to IRIS may not. |
| Other plans | Not listed by OpenAI. |
Privacy and control
Private modes stay private. Conversations in a mode you keep separate are never shared with ChatGPT.
Only you. ChatGPT sees only your own IRIS, after you sign in. Your licence key is checked by IRIS and never handed to ChatGPT; ChatGPT gets its own access, which you can take back.
Disconnect any time. Remove the IRIS plugin in ChatGPT and it stops using IRIS. Or in IRIS go to Settings, Connections, ChatGPT and press Disconnect, which ends ChatGPT's access to IRIS at once.
What ChatGPT does with what it reads is covered by OpenAI's own terms. See the IRIS privacy policy.
Questions
Does it work in the ChatGPT phone app?
You add IRIS on ChatGPT on the web. OpenAI says connecting custom servers on mobile is not available.
Can IRIS use my ChatGPT Projects and their files?
Yes. The IRIS browser extension brings your Projects, with their files, into IRIS. See Bring your ChatGPT chats into IRIS.
Can IRIS write into my ChatGPT chats?
No. ChatGPT asks IRIS, and sends to IRIS. Nothing reaches into ChatGPT from outside a chat.
ChatGPT says IRIS has nothing for me.
ChatGPT reads your IRIS cloud backup. In the IRIS app, check Settings, Cloud backup is on, then open IRIS once so it backs up.
Does it cost extra?
No. It is part of IRIS Pro.
