The 30-second version.

Your first three sessions run with everything switched on. No keys, no account, no card.

  1. Open IRIS and put the glasses onThe phone goes back in your pocket. Everything you need shows on the lens.
  2. Tap StartIRIS begins listening to the conversation around you. That is a session.
  3. Just talkWhen she has something useful, an answer, a fact, a good question to ask, it appears on your lens. When she does not, she stays quiet.

How answers appear.

This is the part that surprises people. She is not a chatbot that replies to everything; she speaks up only when it helps.

Someone asks, she answersA factual question from the other person puts the answer on your lens. Statements and chit-chat do not trigger her; a real question does.
A few seconds, not instantShe waits to hear the whole question, then thinks. The answer lands a few seconds after the person finishes speaking, not while they are still talking.
Quiet on purposeDuring ordinary back-and-forth she shows nothing, so she never distracts you. No cue means nothing worth interrupting for, not a failure.

Pick a mode for what you are doing.

A mode is how IRIS decides when to speak up. Tap the mode name before you start, with the ring on the glasses or on the phone. Three come built in; you can edit them or make your own.

ConversationAnswers the questions the other person asks, offers a tactful correction if something is clearly wrong, and suggests a good follow-up. The one for meetings and Q&A.
ListeningGentle follow-up questions and supportive suggestions, for when your job in the room is to make someone feel heard, not to be the expert.
StudyYou are the listener at a lecture or a talk. She defines terms, identifies names she hears, answers the questions the speaker poses, and never tells you to say anything.

Running a meeting Q&A.

The exact flow for “people ask me things and I want to answer well”.

  1. Choose Conversation, tap StartThe mode built for questions and answers.
  2. Let the question finishShe answers the whole question, not a half-heard one.
  3. Glance at your lens a few seconds laterThe answer appears with an ANSWER label. Read it, then say it in your own words.
  4. Between questions, she restsNo cue during discussion is normal. She is back the moment another question lands.
  5. Afterwards, open the sessionA full summary and the questions that came up, ready for the follow-up email.

Ask her yourself, with the ring.

She answers on her own, but you can also make her answer on demand. Two gestures, depending on whether a session is running.

During a conversation: scroll up, tap Answer thatScroll up on the ring to open your actions and tap Answer that. She answers on your lens from what she just heard. Reword it, or add your own, under Settings, Modes, Quick actions.
When nothing is recording: the Ask tileProOn the lens hub, scroll to Ask, tap, and say your question. Tap to ask another, double-tap to close. Turn the hub on under Settings, The lens and Home, Advanced.
Either way, she can reach live informationPrices, scores, who currently holds a title: answered from a fresh web lookup, with the sources listed so you can check them.

If nothing appeared on your lens.

Almost always it is one of these, and almost always it is working as intended.

I talked and no answer came up
Most likely nobody asked a factual question. She stays silent during statements and small talk on purpose. Have someone ask a clear question, “what year was that?”, and watch the lens a few seconds later.
She did not respond the instant I spoke
Expected. She waits for the full question and then thinks, so the answer lands a few seconds after the speaker finishes.
I want her to help me talk to my kid casually
Casual chat is mostly small talk, so Conversation mode stays quiet. Switch to Listening for gentle follow-up suggestions, or use Ask whenever you want to ask her something directly.
Do I need to set anything up?
No. Open the app, tap Start. Your first three sessions run with everything on. After that, Pro includes the AI and speech recognition, or paste your own keys and keep going free.
