IRIS Terms

These are the rules for using IRIS and paying for IRIS Pro. We have tried to write them so you can actually read them: what we promise, what you are responsible for, how billing and refunds work, and what happens if something goes wrong.

1. Who we are, and this agreement

IRIS is made and sold by Sufi Plugins (Lucas Crowley), an independent developer based in Maryland, USA (“we”, “us”). Contact: [email protected]. Postal address available on request at [email protected].

“IRIS” means the IRIS app for Even Realities G2 glasses, the IRIS servers that relay and store data for it, the IRIS browser extension, and this website. These Terms are an agreement between you and us. You accept them by ticking the box at checkout or by accepting them in the app. If you do not agree, do not use IRIS.

Our Privacy Policy explains what data IRIS handles and why, and our fair use page explains the one usage limit on Pro. Both form part of these Terms.

2. Who can use IRIS

You must be 18 or older to use IRIS. By using it you confirm that you are. If you use IRIS for an organisation, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these Terms for it.

3. What IRIS is, and what it is not

• AI can be wrong. Cues, answers, summaries, transcripts, speaker names, translations and search results are produced by software and can be wrong, incomplete, out of date or attributed to the wrong person. Check anything important before you rely on it.
• Not professional advice. Nothing IRIS shows or says is medical, legal, financial, tax or other professional advice, and it does not replace a qualified professional.
• Not for emergencies. Do not rely on IRIS to call for help, to warn you of danger, or in any situation where a delay or a mistake could hurt someone.
• Not for patient data or other confidential professional records. Do not use IRIS to record or process patient consultations, health records, or other information you hold under a professional duty of confidentiality (for example as a clinician, lawyer or counsellor). IRIS is not designed or contracted for that, and Even Realities’ platform does not permit health-consultation use either.
• Beta features change. Features marked beta, and the IRIS beta builds, are experimental. They may change, break or be removed.

4. Recording people

IRIS transcribes the people around you. You are responsible for complying with the recording, eavesdropping and privacy laws of the place where you use it. Many places, including several US states and many countries, require the consent of everyone in a conversation before it is recorded or transcribed.

• Tell the people you are with that IRIS is transcribing, and stop if someone objects.
• Never use IRIS to record anyone secretly, or to monitor another person (an employee, a partner, a child or anyone else) without a legal basis for doing so.
• Only ask IRIS to remember another person’s voice if that person has given you permission. The app asks you to confirm this each time.

We block storing session audio in places where the law makes that especially risky (see the Privacy Policy), but that block does not make recording lawful anywhere else and does not shift your responsibility to us.

5. Home and car control

Connecting Home Assistant or a car is optional and at your own risk. You choose which devices IRIS can reach, and you can remove any of them at any time. Before IRIS unlocks a lock, disarms an alarm, opens a garage door or runs a script, she asks you to confirm; anything that would unlock or start a car needs a tap on your phone. Speech recognition and AI can still mishear or misunderstand, and connections can fail. Do not rely on IRIS for the security of your home or car, or for anyone’s safety.

6. Driving

Do not let IRIS distract you while you drive, cycle or operate machinery. Some places restrict or ban head-worn displays or smart glasses while driving; follow the law where you are. If in doubt, take the glasses off or end the session before you set off.

7. Subscriptions, billing and refunds

Plans and prices

IRIS Basic is free and runs on your own API keys; you pay those providers directly under their terms. IRIS Pro and Pro Max are paid subscriptions. The price, the billing period and what is included are shown before you subscribe. Prices are in US dollars. At the date above, Pro is $14.99 a month or $149.99 a year and Pro Max is $29.99 a month.

Free trial and automatic renewal

A new Pro subscription starts with a free trial of 3 days. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, PayPal charges the plan price at the end of the trial and then every month or every year, at the price shown when you subscribed, until you cancel. We may refuse a repeat free trial.

Payment

Payments are handled by PayPal, under PayPal’s own terms. We never see your card or bank details. If a renewal payment fails, PayPal retries it for about ten days and Pro keeps working meanwhile; if it still fails, the subscription ends.

How to cancel

Cancel any time in PayPal (Settings → Automatic payments → IRIS Pro), or email [email protected] and we will cancel it for you. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for, or until the end of the trial if you cancel during it, in which case you are not charged at all.

Refunds

If you ask within 14 days of your first paid charge, or within 14 days of an annual renewal, we refund that charge in full, no questions asked. This also covers the right to withdraw that consumers in the EU and UK have. Just email [email protected]. When we refund a charge, Pro ends on that subscription and we cancel it so you are not charged again. Outside those 14 days, charges are not refundable, except where the law gives you a right to a refund; where the law gives you more than this, you get more.

Upgrading to Pro Max

Upgrading starts a new Pro Max subscription at the price shown when you upgrade, and cancels your Pro subscription automatically, so you are never billed for both. Time left on your Pro subscription is not carried over automatically: email us within 14 days of upgrading and we will refund the unused part of your last Pro payment, pro rata.

Price changes

We will email you at least 30 days before a price change applies to your subscription, and it applies from your next renewal after that notice. If you do not want to pay the new price, cancel before that renewal.

Promotional and complimentary licences

Licences given through a promo code, a giveaway or as a courtesy may be limited in time, and we may end them, with at least 30 days’ notice where we have your email address. They cannot be exchanged for money.

Fair use

Pro includes managed AI with no day-to-day metering, but it has one monthly ceiling on what your use costs to run. If you reach it, the AI features pause until the 1st of the next month and everything else keeps working. The details, including where the ceiling is set, are on the fair use page.

8. Your content

Your recordings, transcripts, notes, documents, memories and everything else you put into IRIS (“your content”) remain yours. You give us permission to store, transmit and process your content only as needed to run IRIS for you: to transcribe it, generate cues, answers and summaries, back it up if you have backup on, and send it to the providers listed in the Privacy Policy that do that work. We do not sell your content and we do not use it to train AI models. On Pro, the questions you put to Ask and to “Hey Even” and their answers may be kept for 48 hours for quality review, as described in the Privacy Policy, which also says how to switch that off. You are responsible for having the right to put your content into IRIS.

9. Acceptable use

Do not use IRIS to:

• record, transcribe or identify people unlawfully, or harass, stalk or intimidate anyone;
• break the law, or infringe anyone’s rights;
• reverse-engineer, probe or bypass the IRIS relay or its limits, or access another person’s licence or data;
• resell, share or sublicense your licence or the managed AI, or use it to power another product or service;
• abuse the managed AI, for example with automated or scripted traffic, or by using IRIS as a general-purpose AI endpoint;
• scrape this website or the IRIS servers with automated tools;
• upload malware, or anything designed to disrupt IRIS or other people’s use of it.

10. Even Realities and other providers

IRIS is an independent app. Even Realities is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for IRIS, its content or its support; your use of the glasses and the Even app is governed by Even Realities’ own terms. If you connect your own API keys, your own agent, or services such as Home Assistant, Obsidian or Google, those providers’ own terms apply to what you send them, and we are not responsible for them.

11. Changes, suspension and ending

• Changes to IRIS. IRIS changes often. We may add, change or remove features. If we remove a significant paid feature, we will give subscribers notice, and if you no longer want Pro as a result, we will refund the unused part of your current period on request.
• Changes to these Terms. If we change these Terms in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and email subscribers before the change takes effect. If you keep using IRIS after that, the new Terms apply; if you do not agree, cancel.
• You can stop at any time. Cancel your subscription and stop using IRIS. You can ask us to delete your data at any time, including after your subscription has ended; see the Privacy Policy.
• We can suspend or end your access if you do not pay, if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, or if we must to comply with the law or protect IRIS or other people. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it. Reaching the fair-use ceiling is not a reason; it only pauses the AI features until the 1st.
• If we ever shut IRIS down, we will give subscribers at least 30 days’ notice and refund any unused prepaid time.

12. Disclaimers

To the extent the law allows, IRIS is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for a particular purpose, or that its output will be accurate. Nothing in these Terms removes rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be excluded or limited by contract.

13. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows:

• we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill or data, arising from your use of IRIS or from relying on its output;
• our total liability to you for all claims relating to IRIS is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or US$50.

None of this limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow to be limited.

14. Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover our reasonable costs, including legal fees, of claims brought against us by other people because of your unlawful use of IRIS — for example, recording someone without the consent the law requires. This does not apply to consumers where the law does not allow it.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, USA, and disputes go to the state or federal courts located in Maryland. Either of us can instead bring a claim in a small-claims court that has jurisdiction. There is no arbitration clause and no class-action waiver in these Terms.

If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there.

16. General

• Severability. If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
• Entire agreement. These Terms, with the Privacy Policy and the fair use page, are the whole agreement between you and us about IRIS.
• No waiver. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
• Assignment. You cannot transfer these Terms or your licence to someone else without our agreement. We may transfer them to a company we form or to a buyer of IRIS, provided your rights under them are not reduced; we will tell you if that happens.
• Notices. We will contact you at the email address on your subscription. You can reach us at [email protected].
