Accessibility
Last updated 11 September 2026
IRIS started as a way to put conversation on the lens for people who find hearing it hard, so we want this website and the app to work for everyone. Here is what we aim for, what we know falls short, and how to tell us.
What we aim for
We aim for this website, including checkout, to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA. In practice that means:
- Text and controls with enough contrast against the dark background.
- Every page usable with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline on links, buttons and form controls.
- Form fields with proper labels, and status messages (such as checkout errors) announced to screen readers.
- Images with text alternatives, and pages marked with their language.
- Text that can be resized, and layouts that work at phone width without scrolling sideways.
- Animation that respects your system’s reduced-motion setting.
Known issues
- Some decorative animations on the home page and the feature pages simulate text appearing on the lens. They are decorative, but the text inside them is not always announced in a useful order by screen readers.
- Some phone screenshots contain small text that is described in the image’s alternative text rather than being readable at full size.
- The comparison tables on the IRIS vs Conversate and plans pages are wide; on a phone they reflow or scroll inside their own box.
- Payment happens on PayPal’s pages, which we do not control.
- In the app, the lens display is limited by the glasses themselves: the G2 cannot render Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Bengali, Urdu or Thai script, so IRIS shows those languages transliterated.
Live captions
Live captions in the IRIS app put the words spoken around you on the lens, with speaker labels. They are free on every plan. See everything IRIS does for how to start them.
