Ask your lease, your contract, your manual — with the app closed

What you get

Anything long that you would otherwise have to find, open and scroll: add it once, and every Ask surface — the lens, the phone, and Hey Even with the app closed — can quote from it. When a passage matches, it is the answer; when nothing matches, IRIS says so instead of guessing.

Set it up

Add the document
IRIS → Memory → Kept → Documents → Add a document. PDF, Word (.docx), text, Markdown, CSV and RTF all work. A scanned PDF that is only a picture of text has nothing to read — if the count of words after adding looks tiny, that is why. Paste text instead takes anything you can copy.
Check it took
The screen tells you how many documents you have room for and whether one had to be split. Ask something on the phone’s Ask tab first — “what is the deposit amount?” — and you will see the answer cite the document.

Part one of the spreadsheet guide, if you have not already. Documents are searched on the server, which is exactly why the app can be closed.
Ask from the glasses
“Hey Even, what’s the notice period in my lease?” The answer is on the lens in a second or two, quoting the clause.

Good to know

Ask by meaning, not by page. “The bit about pets” finds the pets clause; “page 6” finds nothing, because the search is over what the words say.
Your documents outrank the web. If the question is about something you added, the answer comes from it, not from a search.
They do not feed cues. Documents answer questions you ask; the files that shape live cues are the per-mode reference files, a different thing.
Limits are shown on the screen — how many documents, and how long one can be before it is split. Remove one to make room.
